This fire department is currently hiring for the position of career firefighter.

General Statement of Duties

Thorough knowledge of firefighting techniques and procedures as applied to fire suppression; general knowledge of fire prevention strategies and techniques; thorough knowledge of emergency medical techniques and procedures; ability to learn technical firefighting principles and techniques, and principles of hydraulics applied to fire suppression; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep simple records and prepare reports; mechanical aptitude; physical endurance and agility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and maintenance of buildings and apparatus.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
NC Firefighter Certification
NC Hazardous Materials Operations Level
NC EMT Basic Certification
Valid NC Class B driver license
Successful completion of an agility test and NFPA/OSHA physical

Additional Preferred Qualifications

NC Driver Operator Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification and/or series
NC Rescue Technician Certification with Vehicle Rescue

Starting Salary: $45,100 annually based on a 56-hour work week.
